Basic Characteristics:

First, whether it be consented or forced, whatever the circumstances, the creating vampire needs to drink the human which they intend to turn, of their life essence, their blood. The vampire will not kill the human, but rather stop feeding to just near the point of death, where without its intervention the human would soon thereafter, perish.

Then, the vampire will, whether it is by mutually consented offer or force, replace the dying human’s life essence, blood, with that of their own. This can be done by several means, but the most common is that the vampire will allow, or force, the human to drink from it… to ingest its blood. The quantity of the vampire’s blood by the human, as well the strength and power of the creating vampire, all will have an effect on how powerful the child is from ‘birth’.

The new vampire will as a result of its new cravings, and possible confused state, be quite dangerous. It is for this reason, that the responsible sire of a vampire will retain custody of its not yet arisen Childe and they will maintain a careful awareness of the situation, being there when the time is right in order to provide guidance to its offspring. The less than responsible sire will at the worst, care not, and let its new creation run amok satisfying its blood-lust without interference, or regard to the consequences.

A vampire could, for a variety of reasons, allow or force a human to ingest its blood, without having fed from that human prior. The life essence of a Vampire can be used to preserve, and restore a mortally wounded or ill human being.

Immortality - A Vampire, is an entity that for all practical purposes is an immortal one. This is true, and this is also false. A vampire will retain the appearance, normally, in holding of whatever their age as a human that they were at the time of their turning. They do not age in the conventional sense. They get older and change in other less visible ways, without normally losing the appearance of their youth. There are only a few things which might cause a vampires appearance to alter to the negative, and all of them go against a vampire’s better instinct, and even then, are reversible. A Vampire is immune to the effects of disease, and poisonous substances which would normally cause illness, incapacitation, or death in most humanoid beings. A vampire will survive each act that would kill a human, with very few exceptions that will ensure its true death. The true death can be brought about by decapitation, immolation, or prolonged exposure to sunlight.  The newer the vampire, the greater the risk of sunlight.

A vampire can become incapacitated by a serious loss of blood, inflicted by wounds, or lack of blood, caused by starvation. Without feeding, or when bled dry, they will desiccate and become statue like until revived through blood.

Enhanced Strength - Even a newly arisen vampire possess the strength of several athletic men, though vampires strength increases exponentially relative to its age. A fledgling vampire however supernatural in strength compared to even the strongest of humans will pale against one its elder.

Enhanced Speed & Agility – Vampires are infinitely faster than human beings, or even therianthropes, except in the case of fledgling vampires or vampires younger than the therianthrope. In such a case as the vampire being the same age or younger than the therianthrope, their speeds are comparable. Vampires despite their agility or lack of in life are all inherently agile, and having reflexes which are even as a newly made vampire, significantly enhanced in comparison to a human being and to the likes of which that does not nor can be replicated in nature.

Enhanced Senses - All of a vampire’s senses, even as a newly made vampire, typically operate on a level much higher to that of a human being and hone exponentially with age.

Empathy - The vampire has many tools at his or her disposal. One is the ability to detect emotions, to almost be able to feel and smell them on the air. This ability is more pronounced in some vampires than others, and even under-developed in some. New vampires may not immediately associate these new scents and sensations for what they represent.

A vampire is capable of remaining totally motionless, silent, and statue like with zero signatures. While a human heart still beats, and lungs must draw breath which betray them to predators and prey alike, a vampire's does not have to. When a vampire maintains a good feeding schedule, their bodies can produce human warmth, breath and pulse through the cardio and respiratory systems.

Vampires are not at all affected by religious artifacts, or holy water, as their state is not good or evil, but a genetic mutation.

Vampires are not affected by garlic.

Vampires are not invisible in mirrors, and can be incredibly vain creatures.

A well fed vampire armed with only the slightest bit of intent exudes charm, by the nature of being one of the more highly evolved predators. Everything about them after turning is modified if only slightly to enhance this. Even without intent, these predators, and everything about them is designed to draw otherwise unaware and unassuming prey towards them like moths to the flame. Most of them rely on the fact that they do not have to hunt their food as a beast does hunt, and kill… Rather that they usually seduce theirs first, or can.

Blood is addictive for vampires; they have a lust for it, built into whatever force that allows them to rise anew, turned, as a survival mechanism that will ensure that despite any reservations due to human sentiments, that they will do what they need to in order to sustain themselves. The blood of elves and fae are highly addictive and more potent than human blood.

A well fed vampire will, should he or she choose, be able to consume human food, with no ill effects so long as he or she maintains a healthy supply of blood.  There is no dietary benefit from consuming human food, merely the ability to partake of  it.

Animal blood can sustain a vampire in between more appropriate meals, but is not capable of sustaining a vampire forever. A vampire, who chooses to not feed on humans, if they can help it, will notice that their abilities and power will be greatly diminished in comparison to a vampire who feeds on human blood regularly unless entirely being substituted by the blood of other preternatural.

When a Vampire does not feed for a prolonged period of time, while remaining active, not only do they begin to become more feral, losing their strength, ability in power, and resolve, but they become more susceptible to emotional response. Strong emotions like anger, fear and lust, can make all but the very eldest vampires fall into a state of uncontrollable blood lust, in which they will assault, and feed from the nearest human(s) without tact, or rational thought other than to feed.

Some vampires even go so far as acquiring the taste of their own, while the practice is usually reserved for the affections between vampires… if taken too far it can have its own share of consequences.

Human warmth, that comfortable 98.6'F, drops to around 95'F when one becomes a vampire which can be relieved as result of feeding. A regularly, and well fed vampire, will function rather normally in regard to body temp, pulse, respiration, even sweating.

Vampires have fangs, their upper canine teeth, which they can extend and retract, at will.

Vampires are sometimes raised new in their siring with an additional, unique power ordinarily not developed into until becoming an elder. These side effects are a remnant, the signature of the kind of power that had created the first vampire(s). These powers are triggered by strong emotions: anger, joy, fear, lust, etc. These powers take several years, often centuries, to be able to keep under some sort of control, or to use deliberately with desired effect.

Vampires are unable to enter a dwelling without permission of invitation. If invited inside, they can return whenever they wish, until the dwelling is made secure with a witch’s spell, sorcery, or until the vampire is destroyed.
